In The New Year

ModlyChic FBFF

Modly Chic has brought back Fashion Beauty Friend Friday in a whole new format and I wanted to participate at least once this month. In short, each month has a theme and you make up a post the Friday of each month based on the theme and link back FBFF on Modly Chic. You can read more about FBFF and join in here.

January is a "New Year, New You". As most of you know a whole lot of new will be happening to me and my family this year. With a baby on the way and hopefully becoming a stay-at-home-mom I'm not making any specific resolutions set in stone. I'll have enough to worry about come April.

However, one thing I do want to do this year is work on my photography skills. I've taken many a photo classes in high school and college. You know, back when we used 35mm film...what's that? (Oh, how I miss the serenity of the darkroom.) And I must say, I was a good photographer. I used to be so creative and it made me feel more complete. More me. But, alas, life has gotten the best of me and my creative juices have waned, as has the time I used spend creating.

And I know I won't have time to start new projects after this little guy arrives. But, what I can do is learn, re-learn this photography business so I can find my creative juices again and focus my new Canon Rebel T3i on the little one and take it on our walks to photograph nature and to capture family gatherings and much more.

So, after a long search on the internet for photography classes I finally settled and saved my seat in one that I'm so excited for! Love that Shot is a website I found that offers photo workshops at affordable prices. I signed up for "Master your DSLR in 4 Weeks" workshop. It's got videos every week, a 150 page reference book and a Facebook group that I can share my work with. It starts in February and I can't wait! I hope it's as good as it professes to be!

New Year. New Me. Old Love. New Skills.

What's new with you this year?

  2. That's a great way to prepare for the baby! Maybe it'll take your mind off some of the worry.
For practicing, and a daily assignment sort of thing, I highly recommend Fat Mum Slim's Photo a Day project. (You don't HAVE to do it on Instagram). Here's her link:
