Awhile back I was thinking of a new posts to write on Casual Chic Kiki. I thought a What to Wear Where post would be an ideal switcheroo. So, I dug into my closet and found a few outfits that would work for the summer (and even fall) wedding season.
I live in the Pacific Northwest. Eastern Washington. So, when I read
fashion magazines and follow bloggers from big cities like LA and New
York, their style rarely matches what's popular in my neck of the woods.
In fact, people around here rarely dress up anymore. It's sad really.
To see people in jeans and shorts at important events. It just seems
that society has gotten a lot more laid back since my childhood. I on
the other-hand like to dress up a bit. And I'll find any occasion to do
so. I'd even wear these outfits out on the town for date night, girl's
night out or to work.
First up we have a super dark wash pegging with a sequin tank and heels. It's probably an evening wedding so I added an ombre cardigan and a bright pink clutch for some whimsey. Add a great pair of earrings and a wrist-full of bracelets to complete the look.
Next up is a pencil skirt and printed tank. I'm seeing this ensemble at a winery or hotel wedding. Personally I don't have a clutch that matches so I went for a tote. It would be handy to keep your camera and a cardigan or jacket for the afternoon. I'd add a a short necklace and earrings to complete this look.
Ah, the garden wedding! My personal favorite. I actually have a garden wedding to attend this weekend (and if I can make it. I will be wearing the second floral dress and coral wedges). The dress has gorgeous sheer cutouts on one side and in the back. A fabulous pair of earrings is all I need. The dresses speak for themselves.
I figure the next two will work for any type of event. A wedding, reception, funeral, anniversary party, dinner out...The midi and maxi are very on-trend right now and so is pattern mixing. I think it's better to be over dressed than under dressed for any occasion.
Do people dress up in your location or has it gone by the wayside? Do you dress up for special events?
*The day after I typed this I got an email from WHO WHAT WEAR. They have a bunch of videos about What to Wear Where.

Some people still dress up, but rarely do people dress to the nines. I always dress up for events, but I rarely have events to go to. I love all your looks, especially the coral shoes with the printed dress look.
